Mr. Melnick is a partner with the firm where his practice focuses on trust and estate litigation, estate planning, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, trust administration, and elder law. Mr. Melnick also handles insurance litigation relating to life, health, and disability policies, insurance bad faith and ERISA. In addition, Mr. Melnick represents management in employment/labor related litigation involving issues of wrongful termination, discrimination, and sexual harassment.

Prior to joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Melnick practiced law in the San Francisco-Bay Area for five years where he handled insurance defense matters and business/commercial litigation. Mr. Melnick is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the Northern, Central, Eastern, and Southern Districts. Mr. Melnick is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Melnick is a past recipient of the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services to the Poor.

Mr. Melnick graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1997. While at Hastings, Mr. Melnick served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Marilyn Hall Patel, Judge, United States District Court, and Northern District. Mr. Melnick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Society, with highest honors, from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1994.

Mr. Melnick was named a "Southern California Super Lawyers: Rising Star" by Law & Politics and Los Angeles Magazine in both 2006 and 2007. "Rising Stars" are "outstanding, emerging attorneys in Southern California," under 40 years of age. The final list includes less than 3 percent of the Southern California Bar.
