Linda M. Lawson is the Managing Partner in the Los Angeles office of Meserve, Mumper & Hughes LLP, and has been with the firm since 1977. Ms. Lawson specializes in the representation of insurance companies in matters relating to life, health and disability coverage and ERISA. She also specializes in the representation of management in employment related litigation and trials involving issues of wrongful termination, sexual harassment and employment discrimination.
Ms. Lawson is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a past Vice-Chair of the Health and Life Insurance Law Committees of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association and is also a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the ABA. Ms. Lawson is also active in the Defense Research Institute, where she is currently a member of the DRI Law Institute, the Employment Law Committee, and a past Chair of the Life, Health and Disability Committee. Ms. Lawson frequently speaks to insurance industry and business groups on insurance bad faith, ERISA and employment law issues.
Ms. Lawson was named a “Southern California Super Lawyer” by Los Angeles Magazine in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. She was also recently named one of the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal’s “Top Women Litigators.”
Ms. Lawson is a 1977 graduate of the University of Southern California School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1974.
